What’s LSPI?
Stands for Low Speed Pre-Ignition (low speed when the early ignition). When the direct injection and downsizing Turbo car with low revolution and high load, the premature ignition (The firing and combustion to fuel is generated by different source before the spark by the spark plug) is missing.
Damage to the engine by “LSPI” becomes a problem. One cause is that, fuel injected into the cylinders is mixed with oils on the wall, the mixture droplet of fuel and oil is raised by piston rings, the droplet deposite (incomplete combustion products) occurs the early ignition spark. At the newest API SN PLUS Issued 5/2018, “LSPI corresponding performance” added and standardized.
